Description
The Battles of the Old Testament provide vital spiritual principles for our lives
as Christians. As we study the conflicts faced by the children of Israel, we find
that their victories were not dependent on military might or superior
weaponry, but on their faithfulness and trust in God. In many ways it was their
prayerful diligence that brought them success on the battlefield. Believers
today are engaged in a spiritual warfare where trust and faithfulness to God’s
Word are vital principles in their victory over the powers of darkness
(Eph. 6:12).
‘For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.’
These brief studies on the Battles of the Old Testament do not include
topographical details, maps, or photographs of where the battles took place.
Instead, the book focuses upon God’s timely interventions, and His love for a
people who were often disobedient and quick to forget how He had acted to
save them from destruction. Each battle has points of application and
reflection for the reader. Included in this book are vital lessons that had to be learnt by God’s people – and still need to be learned by his people today!
